Post 9

Hi everybody, in this post I’m going to write about the Mapuche’s conflict. At first, today the topic of the problem is if Mapuche’s people are terrorists or not, because some of them are in prison for them involvement in some arson attack. Chile has a special law: the Antiterrorist Law. This law accuse Mapuche’s people in prison for terrorist attack. In my opinion an arson attack is a simple fire crime, and this is in the “Código de Procedimiento Penal”, the law for all types of crimes in Chile. The problem is: the antiterrorist law have penalties increase for crimes. The Chilean State looks this crime like terrorist action because its say: “Mapuches’ people are in a terrorist association to commit this crime”. A terrorist association is judges for the Antiterrorist Law. The “Código de Procedimiento Penal” judges the “illicit association”. I think Mapuche’s prisoners are not in a terrorist association. Judges them with the ordinary law of the “Código de Procedimiento Penal”, and accuse them for a simple arson attack. Not for a terrorist attack. All of this is the Mapuche’s complaint. But this problem is only a part of a big problem of the Mapuche’s people with the Chilean State. This big problem considers many topics. The most important are (in my opinion): The Chilean State don’t understand and don’t respect the Mapuche’s culture, the Chilean state has a commercial vision about the territory problem (the territory owner is who buy this, but this territories was buy in ludicrous prices), territories were not buy were seized in the “Pacificación de la Araucanía” a war of extermination in the 19th century, and the Chilean State doesn’t want to give Mapuche’s politic autonomy. I think the Mapuche’s politic autonomy is possible like in Mexico. The Tarahumara’s people have a big territory in the north of Mexico and they have politic autonomy in community with the Mexican State.
